Int 470 Appoints new Management Secretary

To cater for the increasingly professional nature of sailing today , 470 Internationale have announced the contracting of long time 470 administrator Yalcin Gurkan to the post of Management Committee Secretary.

Yalcin, who has been a member of the 470 General council for over 12 years and acted as the Sports Responsible Officer accepted the position on April 6th at a Management meeting in Milan.

The appointment, made possible in part by a ISAF Olympic Class Administration Grant, will see Yalcin on a day to day basis administer Entries to Major 470 Events, report financial matters, communicate with the 70+ countries in the 470 family and publicise and cover Racing and News from all 470’s major events including the growing Junior events now attracting 120 teams from 25 Nations.

470 Internationale President, Darren Dunkley-Smith said "Yalcin has a wealth of knowledge of Sailors, Teams, Coaches and Event Management, as well as being an International Judge. With over 40 professional teams on the 470 circuit and 38,000 boats worldwide Yalcin will be a great asset to the Class but to Sailors also."

Over the next months Yalcin will be seen more and more as the contact person within 470 but the President is always available for your questions and suggestions via darren@470.org. Yalcin can be contacted on ygurkan@bnet.net.tr.
